Is it my impression?

or is the game's design an almost EXACT copy of WoW? And by design I mean the chat font colors, item coloring, etc.

Boring, Linear, and Simplistic (Don't Bother)

I cannot fathom why people here seem to like this game so much.

For a D&D game this is one of the most Boring, Linear, and unindepth/simplistic out of all the D&D games I have ever played in my life. Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights had more depth, class customization, and uniqueness, and these were single player games that came out over 10 years ago.

Even Dungeons and Dragons Online has more depth than this sorry excuse for a D&D game. Everyone chooses the same class skills, aquires the same traits, and can specialize in small things like a little bit of armor resistance or damage, but not enough to really make a huge inpact on anything. About the only good thing about this game is the Graphics, and Gameplay. This game is one of the most boring games I've ever played. I had more enjoyment in the latest Skyrim DLC and that wasn't even that great.

PS: I don't care if this is beta, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize what kind of game this is.

Cheers,

Solo Progression

I just started a ranger character.  How far can you progress through solo play?  Is a group needed to get the best gear?

Thanks!

Thinking about coming back..

I played for a couple weeks after release.. I'm not sure why I quit, but I was watching some videos of the new class and other things.

What's different about the game, if anything?

How's the population, and the community?

Is it pay to win?

Anything that I should know if I am to return, or any opinions on why I should stay away from the game?

Game is not worth playing due to Dupe.

Here is why

Do you remember many months ago when the game was still in Beta, and many of us told Perfect World to wipe the servers due to Duplication Exploits, well the game was ruined because of this, they never banned all the cheaters from the game, and I want to show you the reason I don't play the game myself.

http://feverclan.com/forums/323-neverwinter/22108-games-entire-economy-screwed.html

http://imgur.com/a/xNjTH#0

http://imgur.com/a/A0j7k  Disrespecting Members.

You see my friend was a member of this community their name Katarina, and this community has had multiple members cheating in online games. You can clearly see in the #5 post where a user admits to duplicating over 20 million in Astro diamonds months ago to buy some items from their main account.

This folks is why the game economy was ruined from the start, and the reason that PWI needed to wipe the game and start over while the game was in Beta, players abusing bugs, and exploits, and it doesn't end here you expect me to believe that a user only duplicated 20 million in astro's when the game Guild was caught in another online game League OF Legends handing out free Power Leveling to other users on their accounts, and cheating in other online games with hacks.

Do you know why this member was banned from their forum, and TS, they were banned because they got upset at all the cheating and called it out in League OF Legends they made a threat to expose the cheating because nothing was being done about it, some of these cheaters in deep violation of the Guilds rules have been let back into the community despite the Exploiting.

http://imgur.com/a/h5laB

Yes the user people with the game tags of Crappy Aim, and his brother BlobX were members of the clan for quite some time, all they would do is troll League chat, and the day the they admit to illegally DOSing the Fever server our friend Kat got involved in the debate, they were banned for threatening to expose these no good for nothing cheaters rather than their community saying show us the evidence and we will take care of it.

Bottom Line, I was not asked to post this on behalf of anyone, but as People I know of have been treated wrong, in fact when we all ask why was "X" user banned, we get a response they were banned for being disrespectful to others but the only disrespect they ever showed was the hate for the cheaters in the community, perhaps instead of allowing this they should have actually said "I understand you are upset, if you have evidence please get on TS, and show us." But instead they chose to make things personal at someone who was very upset at these cheaters while they were a member/guest of the community, and got banned while breaking no rules posted on this site as there are no rules about chat moderation outside the server they rent, However one rule applies to all cheaters or is supposed to.

Rule #4 http://feverclan.com/forums/6-rules-information/97-feverclan-standard-rules.html which talks about any type of cheating or hacking in an online game. I can understand using an exploit by mistake, or bug without knowledge the first time, but as soon as you experience a bug or exploit you should contact support and let them know about it, not abuse it even for testing purposes, but even just to gain an unfair advantage on your main account.

How many of you would allow this in your community. And perhaps it goes to show that big numbers don't always mean drama-free gaming community. Many people I know and myself have be part of many gaming community that are small, and from experience those that are small, we have never had a single cheater but joining a community that boasts about its members having lots of active players you get this.

But even worse, PWI refused to reset the servers during Beta, I personally sent in a support ticket and made them aware of the duplication exploit and that it was highly abused, and this is the reason no one should even play the game.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye,

We are SOLA!

SOLA is a group of Christian gamers who seek to develop a community of Acceptance and Encouragement!

SOLA was formed back in June 2012 by Dosmas and a few others who were looking forward to the launch of Guild Wars 2 and have been very successful in that time. We have an overall membership of over 500 people that have played Guild Wars 2, The Secret World and Rift with us at one time or another.

Due to the excitement surrounding Neverwinter and the demand of our membership we have formed the SOLA Neverwinter branch.

Our Goal is to be known as friendly and helpful members of all games we play including Neverwinter.

While SOLA was founded by Christians it is NOT Required for Membership. All we expect of our membership is to be respectful, and to act in an honorable manner.

We have people from every spectrum of gamers, young and old, hardcore and casual, PvEers, and PvPers. We will strive to be active in all areas of Neverwinter and we will work to accomplish everything Neverwinter has to offer, and then when we run out of content made by cryptic we will make our own content

The only requirement for membership is to read our code of conduct and to fill out an applicationwith a bit of information about you. If you have any questions, comments or ever want to meet us or join us, come on over to our forums.

We have forums, and a voice chat system that we have used for some time.

May He Bless us All as we tell our Story for HIS Glory!

Simril

Since there was no mention of it except the holiday summary thread, I thought I put it here...

The Simril festival launched 2 days ago, and it's pretty fun. The town looks great, it has a chill, (never)wintry feel, the lore chuncks are decently written. Has 3 main events:

- an ice race. Imported from Q's Winter Wonderland, upgraded with speedbooster parts, obstacles and slalom gates. Since mounts are allowed, it has a bit arcade / console feel, a 110% mount can reach a hilarious speed if controlled precisely enough :)

- a combat area, lot tougher than the previous two events' counterparts (Valindra invasion, and the trolls during the summer). Fast respawn, adds, ... oh, and it's on ice. So, like STO's fight on the lake, there's a lot of slipping around which is fun. Sadly it's similar to the previous events in that it also favors fast-killing ranged and AoE dps. Clerics, GF's... tough luck again this time.

- ice fishing. Simple, just seek the purple / blue spots to fish, those have the best catches. The event profession is backing this one up, with craftable green / blue / purple fishing rods for faster pulls, and lures for the better catch. There are occasional skeletons of former unlucky anglers disturbing the fishes, so it also has some fighting-on-ice elements.

It's a great event, worthy enough to participate for the fun itself, but of course there are the folks Matt wrote his latest column about, the "Action for reward" peeps. (or as Matt wrote "Players want to be rewarded for their time spent") Well, they're basically screwed. This event is maybe the most grind-heavy one in Cryptic's history :) Someone in Zone chat said yesterday, this event is how Cryptic wishes the players a Merry Grind mass and a Farmy New Year.

There are two sets of rewards. One is the much easier, either a Sled mount (looks great) or a Mimic companion (which is quite meh). Both are green, and only takes about a minute of the player's time - every day. If you skip a few days, you miss the Mimic, but even for the Sled you have to log in at least 10 days during the holidays. Which can be a grind, but nowhere near as the other part.

On the other side are the better rewards (winter cosmetic items, winter weapon looks, a mount and a companion), with a cool, glowing Bambi companion at the end of the chart, who dishes out AoE heal of cuteness. Well, that one takes at least ~2 hours of play every day to reach. (with optimised play, as in searching the lowest pop zones, bringing a CW or a hunter, etc.). For only one character - if someone wants two of those, then it's already 4 hours every day. And it's only a green companion... :)

Edit: maybe easier this way :)  http://youtu.be/TSNlJdX8DV0  (the bug they mention in the fishing area was fixed after the first update)

Neverwinter: Shadowmantle is coming! I wasn't able to bring you the trailer, but I do bring you a link to an article that pertains to the reveal itself. Have you been waiting for the Hunter class to come? Well, your wait is almost over :) The Hunter Ranger class will FINALLY be coming to the game, and so will a good number of Paragon Paths.

Game has the wrong class designers

The game is looking awesome

The game has great quests and a very pro GUI

The game has somehow a good crafting system

The game has nice areas to explore

I had fun playing Wizard, Rogue to level 60 because these are the only 2 classes that are well designed

All the other classes especially the new Hunter Ranger class are just pure bull and horse....

TABing between melee and range for ranger or between Divine and normal for cleric etc etc is no fun

The Ranger is just a weak copy of the Rogue with some slow and boring arrow shots

Clerics that cant heal well are part of this class design mess

Wizard and Rogue YESS !

The rest   NOOOOPE  !

Neverwinter: Hunter Ranger and Companions Offline First Look

I must say I would reroll and and play as a Hunter Ranger. If I had the time to do things like that. Also the offline companions leveling is kinda cool. The Shadowmantle patch looks really good for the game.

Any Neverwinter Nights 2 players here?

Any Neverwinter Nights 2 players with an old account(all expansions) that doesn't care about the game anymore?

PM me please

Thanks

Poor design... Bad customer service...

I have played a couple of characters to the max level.  Game simply can't be played as pve or you will spend a lot of time in the graveyard.  They still have major programming glitches and they ignore bug reports. No imagination to game style.. play, grind, dungeons, die.  Other Perfect World games have much less glitches and better customer service.

Noob Alert!

Just began playing Neverwinter and have a "few" questions. Right now I'm doing "Free to Play" to see how much I'll enjoy the game and I'm pretty sure I'll join the pay game fairly soon. This is an enjoyable game.

I couldn't figure out two of the quests I got so, for the time being, I decided to abandon them and return to them later. I have no quests now and can't find a contact to give me any. How do I get another quest or find the contacts that gave me the quests I abandoned?

I tried the Job Board. I clicked on a mission but can't figure out how to start it/accept it!  Finally how does one get from one zone to another. One reason I abandoned a quest was I couldn't figure out how to get there! Yes I am a NOOB! Yes I am confused, and that's not  really hard thing to do now a days! Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Neverwinter

Hi,

I discovered the new game Neverwinter. The game is free. A very important thing - double rates - EXP, DROP and GOLD. I can use my creativity with the easy-to-use editor, the Foundery, which lets me create my own quests. The fun is endless-millions of combinations are possible. I think it's great ! I like the atmosphere and graphics. There are many classes to choose, I started with a manipulator magician. I think it is a very cool game and I like MMO with dynamic combat.

Some reason Neverwinter plays for a few mins, but then totally crashes my PC and powering it off.
